2020 Herty Medalist

The Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society is pleased to announce that Professor Susan D. Richardson is the recipient of the 2020 Herty Medal recognizing outstanding work and service by a chemist in the Southeast. Prof. Richardson is the Arthur Sease Williams Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina. She is being recognized for her work understanding the formation of drinking water disinfection by-products with environmental and human health impacts and for her service to the profession and society through many interactions with the media and general public.

The gold Herty medal will be presented at the 86th Herty Award Celebration in September 2020. Prof. Richardson will also be a guest lecturer at the Annual Herty Medalist Undergraduate Research Symposium (HMURS).
